Are you asking the right questions?

We recently posed this question to practices with high volumes of VIT patients.

Their answer? Asking the right questions on the new patient intake questionnaire.

 Here are their key questions:

  1. Have you ever reacted to a stinging insect (bee, wasp, ant)?

  2. Have you visited urgent care or the ER because of a stinging insect reaction?

  3. Do you carry epinephrine, such as an EpiPen, because of a stinging insect reaction?

The practices found that including these questions helped them identify more venom sensitive patients, even when the patient’s visit was for other indications.

We know VIT reduces fear and improves patient quality of life.

Will you be asking the right questions?
